Are you educating, adding value and building community via emails, as well as selling or promoting your products and services?
In amongst what is usually a piece about a new product range or a sale, Wittner Shoes sent out the email below with a subject of "Behind the Shoes: Innovative Craftsmanship". You could be cynical and say they are just trying to sell more, however most people have pride in their work and are actively trying to make a difference and improve the world and people's lives. Telling people about what you are doing, and why, can help your customers understand you and your products better.
When you are in your next email marketing planning session, think about how you are communicating about your "why" or your "how", as well as your "what" and "when".
When I received the above email from Wittner I was intrigued enough to read it, instead of skimming through the headlines and images.
